related, three brothers, ariel castro, 52 his brother pedro, 54, his other brother, o'neal, 50. we know ariel is the one whose name is listed to the house to which the women were kept. beyond that authorities aren't going into how all of the men are connected to this, are they all equally to blame in this? authorities aren't saying. they are saying the investigation's huge and only growing larger. and that they really are just starting to get their arms around it. wolf? >> how are the people in the community there in cleveland -- i know you're from cleveland -- how are they feeling about all of this today because what an amazing development. >> reporter: yeah, it is. i mean, i think people are still in a state of disbelief. you have to understand the missing two girls, especially the two youngest ones, those were stories that people in the community followed. this is this is a story, they went out searches joined them in the canvasses but they were part of the mind-set and they began to fade away. now they're found. that's the euphoria and there's a lot of that. after that subsides, the
is in custody today along with his older brother, pedro, and younger brother o'neil. my cnn colleague martin savidge is following every new development, and i'm joined here in phoenix by hln's nancy grace. i want to start with you, marty, if i can. let's get right to the latest in what's going on. they had a news conference this morning, but are they really telling us the heart of what happened here? >> no, because there are so many questions. the fbi admit it, the fbi admits it, that they have a lot of the leads. they're glad that these young women have been found after all this time alive and well. how did it happen? how is it that they were targeted? how is it that they were kidnapped? how is it that they were kept in a home on this street for ten years and nobody really seems to know of the horror that was playing out behind the closed doors? that's what authorities want to know today? fbi forensic teams are inside what they say is ten years of evidence to begin building their case and trying to understand what happened. here is what question know so far about the young women and how the
's three people involved and they're brothers. 50-year-old onil castro and 54-year-old pedro castro. brian todd is out front in cleveland. you've been speaking to a lot of people in the neighborhood where the women were found. and what did you find? >> reporter: well, erin, you're getting varied accounts from neighbors across this neighborhood that a lot of them did not see any red flags. but then you know, you get the odd account that one of them at one point saw a naked woman walking in the back yard who was told to get inside or get down. you saw one neighbor who -- we talked to one neighbor who saw a child at one point somewhere around the house. what we're told by cnn's martin savidge getting this information that fbi officials telling him that an fbi child victim specialist has been brought in. that person is interviewing all three women who were held as well as the 6-year-old child of amanda berry. now, what we also have, erin, is an account from a neighbor across the street here as we see the fbi and other specialists over here on the scene of ariel castro's house. a neighbor acros
learned that the three castro brothers, ariel, pedro and onil will be interviewed tomorrow and could be charged thursday. a jeep cherokee and pickup truck have been towed from the home on seymour avenue. now we go live to the scene. kevin, thank you for joining me. obviously, for anyone like you who has covered this for so many years, it's a quite extraordinary end to three concurrent investigations, i guess. what is the latest and let's start with the three young women. my understanding is that two of them are heading home and they're okay but the one is not in great shape. what can you tell me? >> officially, all the fbi will tell us is that they are in the custody of fbi victim specialists. there was talk -- we did learn two of them have been released from the hospital yesterday, but at this point, they won't tell us exactly where they are and investigators right now aren't even speaking with them in very much detail. they just want their mental state and their physical state, they want to focus on that before they start delving into more details. but right now, they're protecting
, pedro, 54, onil 50. it is ariel neighbors new best, as a school bus driving that gave rides on an all terrain vehicle in this neighborhood. the three women that disappeared a year apart were all last seen within a five block radius, and allegedly held in his house about three miles away. the castro brothers' uncle owns a neighborhood store. >> might have been living two different lives. >> reporter: some neighbors thought the house was vacant, a place he checked on from time to time. but a few now say they were concerned. >> wouldn't open no windows, no doors, only the attic window. >> i had family members that phoned the police and they have come and knocked on the door and nothing. >> reporter: police say they only answered calls twice on the street, once before the women disappeared, and in 2004 to question ariel castro about a child mistakenly left behind on his school bus. no charges were filed. >> people don't seem to understand these are sociopaths, they're very cunning at it and know how to avoid the police. it is sad because it could be your next door neighbor. >> reporter: t
. pedro, ar yell and castro brothers. they held three girls inside air yell castro's home. her young daughter born in captivity, she's six years old. the police chief says authorities have found ropes and chains inside ariel castro's home. officials believe they were used to restrain the three women. they say no human remains were found. cnn has learned that ariel castro was accused in 2005 of beating his then-wife. court documents say his wife suffered several significant injuries including a blood clot on her brain. documents also say castro repeatedly threatened to kill her and her daughter. the neighbor who helped the three women escape by knocking down the suspect's door gave an exclusive interview. charles ramsey recounted the ordeal to anderson cooper in detail. listen to this. >> you moved in about a year ago. you'd seen ariel castro around, right? >> when i moved here only because he was my neighbor, you know what i mean? >> right. what was he like? >> cool. he wasn't no freak of nature. he was like me and you because he talked about the same thing you talk about. he talk ab
calling 911 on a neighbor's phone. castro along with his brothers pedro and onil have been arrested, and remained in jail. authorities announced late today that ariel castro has given a detailed statement, and is being charged with kidnapping and rape, as for his two brothers: >> no charges will be filed against these two individuals. there is no evidence of crimes committed against gina, amanda, michelle and the minor child. >> suarez: officials said they have many questions that still need answers, and there could be more charges to come. for the latest, we turn to peter krouse. he's a reporter with the "cleveland plain dealer" newspaper, which has been closely tracking the story. peter, welcome. what do we know about this case that we didn't know this morning? i know the prosecutor and the chief investigator gave a news conference just before we went on the air this evening. did they reveal some new facts?ç >> well, they did reveal some new facts. obviously the... one of the more interesting facts is the fact that two of the brothers are not being charged and that they're saying

or just ariel -- his name is on the mortgage. but what about pedro and the other castro? >> i don't think anyone lived there except for the three women. we talked to a neighbor who had known ariel for 22 years. he was a young kid when he moved in or when he bought the home. this kid who has known him for 22 years must be 30 something, he said he didn't think he lived there. he would come in and he would visit the place and care for. he sort of suspected he was waiting houses come bumping back up and make some money. he never saw the two brothers living there. do you ever have conversation with them. he said yes, he said look, he was a nice guy. he was a normal guy. there was nothing i felt was out of the ordinary. he is about 30 years old now but he met him when he was a young child. at the time he thought he was a nice guy. >> dana: when will the charges be made against these individuals? >> greta: i suspect very soon, i on don't know the state rules in ohio but you can't dwayne anyone you have to do, if you are going to hold someone you have to lodge charges on them and have a bond hear

, pedro and onil would be accused of abducting holding three women hostage for nearly a decade. the first insights into who castro is, emerging who wrote on his job application form, "i enjoy working with children. " ariel castro was known to cops, in fact, in 2004, police came to his house after castro who worked as a bus driver was accused of leaving a student on the bus and cursing at the student. no one opened the door. castro was later suspended the first of several suspensions that ultimately ended with his firing in 2012, raising the question did authorities miss key opportunities to rescue the women. ariel castro's brother-in-law, says castro kept his home off-limits. when you say private what do you mean? >> never have anybody come over. >> reporter: we learned that castro's only daughter, arlene, was friends with one of the girls abducted, gina dejesus. and told "america's most wanted," she was the last to see gina. >> decided to call my mom and ask her. so she gave me 50 cents to call my mom. and so my mom said, no. that i can't go over her house. and so i told her i couldn't.
